A 28-year-old man has been lynched for allegedly kidnapping two children at Adiembra in the Adansi Asokwa District of the Ashanti region.
The deceased, identified as Isaac Bans, a welder, was reportedly playing with the said children on Saturday, March 18, when he was attacked.
According to a relative, Eric Addo, the mother of the children accused the deceased also known as Blade of being a thief when she saw him with her children.
People in the neighbourhood upon hearing the mother’s loud cry started assaulting him.
They used cutlasses and other sharp objects to attack the deceased. He was then forced to drink dirty oil from a nearby mechanic shop until he lost consciousness.
But according to Eric, Blade was a calm person who liked playing with children and so the family finds it hard that anyone will consider him a kidnapper.
The Odikro of Adiembra, Nana Oduro Frikyi, also revealed to journalists that anytime a thief or any suspected criminal is apprehended the residents always brought the suspect before him.
He, however, said he finds it surprising that they would take the law into their hands this time.
Meanwhile, the police have since arrested 10 people including the leader of the group, Solonko, and a woman.
