A two-month old baby has been butchered while the mother is said to be nursing severe machete wounds at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital in Hwidiem.
According to Police report, the woman, identified as 25-year-old Selina Seidu and her baby were allegedly butchered by one Frank Naro on Thursday afternoon in a village near Ntotroso in the Brong Ahafo Region.
Some residents found Selina and her baby in a pool of blood after they had heard her scream for help.
The baby and mother were rushed to the Gyedu Health Centre for treatment but the baby was pronounced dead upon arrival at the health facility.
Selina was later referred to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital at Hwidiem for further treatment. She is currently stable and responding to treatment.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue.
The police has meanwhile began a search for the suspected murderer.
