Man busted at Ablekuma with suspected fake US dollars

The Ghana Police Service, through its National Operations Directorate Surveillance Unit, has apprehended a suspect in Ablekuma in connection with the possession of foreign currency believed to be counterfeit, along with an unauthorised firearm.

In a statement shared on the official Facebook page of the police on Thursday, January 22, the suspect, named Josiah Elorm Kwame Amezado, was taken into custody following intelligence reports suggesting that a self-proclaimed fetish priest in the vicinity was allegedly engaged in criminal activities and possessed a firearm, thereby posing a potential threat to the local community.

The statement further indicated that a search executed in the suspect’s residence resulted in the recovery of various US dollar bills in one-hundred-dollar denominations, a pair of handcuffs, a black vest, a Kuzey A100 blank pistol, and fifty-eight 9mm blank rounds.

The suspect is presently in police custody, and investigations are underway to determine the origin and legitimacy of the currency, as well as the circumstances regarding the possession of the firearm and other related items.
