Man arrested for robbing and raping a woman in Nsutam

Police have arrested a young man accused of robbing and raping a woman during a violent attack at Nsutam in the Eastern Region.

The suspect, identified as Mohammed Issaka, is alleged to have forced his way into the victim’s home while armed with a machete and carried out the assault before fleeing the area.

According to reports, Issaka threatened the young woman with the weapon and compelled her to transfer an undisclosed amount of money to a mobile money number under duress.

After the forced transaction, he allegedly raped the victim and made away with her mobile phone and other valuables before escaping.

Police sources say Issaka was later tracked down and apprehended at a hideout in Sapeiman during an operation by security personnel.

During the arrest, officers reportedly recovered sixteen mobile phones believed to be linked to criminal activities, along with other items that may serve as evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Issaka is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
