Man arrested for sodomizing an 8-year-old boy

The Kwawu Suminakese police have arrested a man identified as Kwadwo Opoku from Kwawu Asuoyaa in the Kwawu East District of the Eastern region for sodomising an 8-year-old boy.

The family of the victim had reported the case to the Department of Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVSU) under the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command.

The arrest comes after disturbing allegations surfaced, implicating Opoku in the heinous act.

The police have commenced investigations into the matter to ensure justice is served.

Sodomy has become characteristic of recent times.

Previous incidents

Christian Abor, a 34-year-old ‘Kente’ (locally woven cloth) weaver at Akatsi Deti New Town in the Akatsi South Municipality, was jailed for eight years in hard labour by a Sogakope Circuit Court for defiling a seven-year-old class one pupil.

The convict, during his appearance at the Sogakope Circuit Court, pleaded not guilty to the crimes of defiling a child under 16 years and sodomy.

Also, Mensah Believe, a 27-year-old junior high school teacher at Lume Ahugakope MA Basic School in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, was jailed for seven years by a Sogakope Circuit Court for defiling a 13-year-old student.

The convict, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and English teacher, during his appearance in court, pleaded guilty to the crime of defiling a child under 16 years and sodomy.

The Aflao Circuit Court also sentenced a corn mill operator to eight years imprisonment for sodomising a nine-year-old boy at Atorkukope, a suburb of Aflao.

40-year-old Wisdom Atiledza was sentenced on January 14 after he was arraigned.
