Police have arrested one person in connection with the abduction of a 12-year-old girl at Wa in the Upper West Region.
According to the victim’s father, his daughter, a primary four pupil, was abducted on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
The victim, who lives with her parents at the Airport Extension residential area in Wa, was sent to buy drugs from a chemical shop when two unidentified men on a motorbike accosted her and threatened to kill her if she raised any alarm.
Narrating the incident to some journalists, the victim said the abductors took her to an uncompleted building where her limbs were tied with a rope.
Her mouth was also covered with a handkerchief.
She said she managed to escape when the men abandoned her the following day.
After the family reported the incident, the Upper West police launched an investigation into the case, leading to the arrest of one of the suspects, Anthony Morgan, who is said to be in his late 30s.
His accomplice, however, is still on the run.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father complained that although the girl appears healthy, she has been living in constant fear after the incident.
