A suspected thief has been arrested in Kumasi after a woman and her sister devised a plan to lure him to their home following the theft of a mobile phone and cash.
The incident began when a man allegedly made away with a woman’s phone and an amount of GHC 1,600.
The victim had reportedly been trying to exchange her phone for a new one when the suspect fled with both the device and the money.
Shaken by the incident, she informed her family about what had happened. Her sister then decided to take matters into her own hands by contacting the suspect.
Pretending to be interested in starting a romantic relationship, she kept communication going until she convinced him to visit her home.
According to accounts, the suspect agreed to the meeting, unaware that the family had already alerted others about the plan. Upon his arrival, he was confronted and subsequently arrested.
The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.
Police are expected to proceed with the case in accordance with the law.
