Makola Wig Sellers Clash With Nigerian Businesswoman (Video)
Some wig sellers at Makola Market have prevented a Nigerian businesswoman who claimed to be a medical doctor in the United States from selling wigs at very low prices at Makola.
Ghana’s laws bar foreigners from engaging in the retail business; hence the Makola women insisted on getting the Nigerian businesswoman from the local market.
The businesswoman, identified as Dr Chi, is the owner of Priceless Hairs, a wig-selling company.
It is alleged that Dr Chi arrived from Nigeria with some friends to introduce some of their wigs to customers and to introduce them to their online platforms where people could buy wigs.
Wig sellers at Makola who were not in support of the move by the Nigerian businesswoman decided to foil her trade fair.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Dr Chi was seen addressing a crowd saying, “She can live without depending on her wig money”.
She said she could shut down her trade fair at Makola and still survive because her medical profession would provide her with monthly salaries.
“I only want to reach out and introduce my wigs that are not expensive to you, and that is all,” she noted.
At the scene where the riot occurred, several posters weres attached to trees with the inscription “NO WAY FOR FOREIGNER RETAILERS”.
