Former President John Dramani Mahama will be engaging Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) today, Tuesday, November 22, 2022, over the current economic crisis in the country.

The scheduled meeting will allow the former president to discuss collaborations and bring out solutions to the nation’s economic crisis.

The meeting will take place in Accra, with notable participants from the CSOs and other economists attending.

The role of CSOs is to monitor government actions and policies and hold the government accountable.

For the past three months, Ghana has been facing an economic crisis due to the instability of the cedi, which has affected every sector of the economy. The country’s inflation rate of 40.4% has made the situation worse for most citizens.

Ghana is currently negotiating a programme of up to $3 billion with the International Monetary Fund(IMF) to revive the economy.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, is to present the 2023 budget in parliament on Thursday, November 24, 2022, concerning how the state will manage its expenditure next year.
