Mahama promises to complete abandoned hospitals, Agenda 111 projects
Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has assured trainee nurses that his administration will complete all abandoned hospitals.
He also promised to complete the Agenda 111 project to create employment opportunities for trainee nurses if elected.
Speaking to trainee nurses on Saturday, Mr. Mahama emphasized his commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and addressing the challenges faced by healthcare professionals in Ghana.
He stressed the need of finishing these projects to ensure healthcare facilities are available and accessible to all Ghanaians.
Mahama also noted that the completion of these hospitals would enhance healthcare delivery and provide much-needed job opportunities for trainee nurses and other healthcare workers.
He criticized the current government’s handling of nurses’ allowances and pledged to create more employment opportunities if the NDC returns to power.
The Agenda 111 project is an ambitious initiative by the government, launched in August 2021, aimed at significantly expanding the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
The project was initiated by President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration with the goal of constructing 111 hospitals across various districts, regions, and specialized areas in Ghana.
The initiative involves the construction of 101 district hospitals, six regional hospitals in newly created regions, two psychiatric hospitals in Kumasi and Tamale, and the redevelopment of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
Additionally, the project includes the construction of a regional hospital for the Western Region, which was previously without one.
The primary aim of Agenda 111 is to improve access to quality healthcare services, particularly in underserved and rural areas where healthcare facilities are lacking.
