Mahama celebrates mothers, pledges support for women and families
President John Dramani Mahama has celebrated Mother’s Day with a heartfelt message to Ghanaian women, recognising their resilience and vital contributions to national development while promising continued support from his government.
In a statement issued on Sunday, May 11, President Mahama praised the tireless efforts of mothers working to secure a brighter future for their children, often in the face of adversity.
“Many of you encounter various challenges, yet your resilience inspires your children and others in the community,” he said.
He described mothers as the backbone of society and urged the nation to reflect on their role in shaping communities and the country at large.
“As we celebrate our mothers today, let us renew our commitment to building a Ghana where every mother and child has the opportunity to thrive,” the statement read.
President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies that uplift women and families, including expanding access to quality healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. These efforts, he said, are essential to building an inclusive and supportive society.
He ended his message with a personal tribute to the women in his life, saying, “Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the incredible women who nurtured us. To my wife, Lordina, Vice President Naana Jane, and all mothers, thank you”.
