President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Eric Adjei as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP).

Mr. Adjei takes over from Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, who previously held the position.

Before this appointment, Mr. Adjei served as the Deputy Spokesperson for Vice Presidential Candidate Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang during the 2024 general elections.

Reacting to his new role, Mr. Adjei expressed gratitude and a commitment to serve, stating on Facebook: “My appointment is for the grassroots.”

NEIP, initially launched as the Youth Enterprise Support (YES) under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration in August 2014, aims to assist young entrepreneurs in Ghana.

The programme was revamped under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and rebranded as NEIP in July 2017, with five key mandates:

  • Technical Support and Business Advisory Services: Assisting startups, micro, and small businesses with guidance and expertise.
  • Training, Incubation, and Mentorship: Supporting early-stage businesses to scale and succeed.
