President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Edward Bawa as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), effective Friday, January 17, 2025.
This appointment aligns with the provisions of Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 10(2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.C.L.64).
The appointment is contingent on the necessary advice from the Honourable Minister for Energy, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
This decision reflects the President’s commitment to ensuring strong, capable leadership within the GNPC, which plays a critical role in the country’s energy sector.
In a formal letter, President Mahama congratulated Edward Bawa, who previously served as the Member of Parliament for Bongo, and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure.
The announcement was made public by Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Secretary to the President.
