Graduate unemployed nurses, midwives in massive demo today

Over two hundred Graduate unemployed nurses and midwives association, (GUNMA) has announced a ‘mega picketing’ today at the Ministry of Health premises over the inability of the government to place them in the job market years after completing program.

The demonstration is to press home their demands for government to ensure employment for all qualified nurses and midwives.

In an interview with The Ghana Report , the National President of GUNMA, Sugri Abdul-Rafiq stated most of its members have been home for more than three years.

“The group is planning on picketing at the Ministry of Health premises till their demands have been met. He noted

Asking what the group plans on doing if their demands are not met today, Mr. Abdul-Rafiq stressed that arrangement has been made for members to picket at the premises till the issue is resolved.

“Even if it takes the whole day, two days or one whole week, we planning on protesting each and every single day till our demands are finally met, ” he reiterated.

The protesting nurses who initially converged on the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park marched through some principal streets of the Accra towards the Ministry of Health.
