Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah has declared his intention to contest the Afigya Kwabre South constituency seat.
The talented actor, known as Lil Win, intends to pursue this endeavour as an independent candidate.
Lil Win’s decision to step into the political arena is being influenced by the encouragement and endorsement from local chiefs and elders within the said constituency.
These influential figures reportedly approached him with the proposal of running for the parliamentary seat, expressing their strong support and commitment to ensuring his victory.
Lil Win, in an interview with Accra-based Okay FM, monitored by theghanareport.com, revealed that he was initially approached by a group of elders in October 2022.
According to the actor, they had already discussed the possibility of him becoming their MP as an independent candidate and were unwavering in their determination to see him succeed in the election.
He noted their enthusiasm soared after releasing his recent movie, “Mr. President”.
The actor admitted that his initial response was reluctance, but the persistent encouragement from the local chiefs and leaders eventually convinced him to embrace the opportunity.
He shared that they assured him of their full support, and even his family members, including his mother and uncle, were on board with his decision to contest.
Lil Win acknowledged the challenge of uniting his diverse fan base, which includes supporters of different political parties, and emphasized his commitment to addressing the concerns of local youth.
He spoke about the urgent need to tackle issues related to drug and alcohol use among the youth by focusing on job creation and providing opportunities to uplift the community.
Lil Win is the latest to join the ranks of entertainers who have transitioned into politics.
