A quiet afternoon in Kadjebi in the Oti Region turned tragic when a 25-year-old mason apprentice lost his life during a sudden rainstorm.
Joseph Aborbor was reportedly in his room at Kassadjan, a suburb of Kadjebi, on Saturday, March 21, when heavy rains and thunderstorms swept through the area.
What began as a routine phone call quickly turned fatal when lightning struck, ending his life instantly.
Residents say the storm came on abruptly, with strong winds and loud thunderclaps sending many people indoors for safety.
For Aborbor, however, being inside did not shield him from the danger.
Incidents like this serve as a reminder of the dangers associated with thunderstorms, especially during intense weather conditions.
