‘Let’s walk in unity and love’ – Lumba’s first wife Akosua Serwaa speaks after court’s ruling

First wife of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, Akosua Serwaa, has broken her silence following the High Court’s ruling on the long-running legal battle with Priscilla Ofori (aka “Odo Broni”), Daddy Lumba’s second wife.

In a video shared on social media, Akosua Serwaa, based in Germany and dressed in traditional funeral black attire, expressed gratitude to all persons who supported her during the legal battle.

“I want to first thank God, and secondly, all social media platforms and every Ghanaian, Team Legal Wives and husbands of members of Team Legal Wives, Papa Shee… the list is endless. You have shown me love and stood by me in these trying times when the issue came up,” she said.

Serwaa also appealed for unity and encouraged her followers to remain hopeful.

“Let us continue to walk in love. The victory is for all of us. The Bible says that those who put their hope in the Lord will not be disappointed. May God be with us,” she added.

Her statement comes shortly after the ruling of the Kumasi High Court on November 28, 2025, which declared that both Serwaa and Odo Broni are legal surviving spouses of Daddy Lumba, rejecting Serwaa’s request for the court to recognise her as the sole surviving wife.

Her lawyer, William Kusi, confirmed that they plan to appeal the decision, maintaining that their substantive case remains valid and that they will pursue all legal avenues to secure what they believe to be Serwaa’s rightful status as a legal wife of the late musician.
