President-elect John Dramani Mahama has met with Kenyan President William Ruto to discuss regional integration and continental security, emphasizing the importance of collaboration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
During the meeting, Mr. Mahama expressed gratitude for Mr. Ruto’s support and formally invited him to his inauguration on January 7.
Reflecting on their discussions in a Facebook post on December 29, Mahama stated:
“It was a great opportunity to discuss regional integration, continental security, and how we can work collectively to maximize the benefits of AfCFTA. As a former Chair of the AU high-level committee on Trade, I remain committed to fostering trade among African nations under the AfCFTA framework. Strengthening ties between Kenya and Ghana is key to achieving this vision.”
President Ruto reiterated his commitment to deepening Ghana-Kenya relations through enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, mining, tourism, and energy.
He highlighted that these efforts would unlock opportunities for citizens of both nations, fostering mutual growth and prosperity.
Mr. Ruto also acknowledged Mr. Mahama’s support for Raila Odinga’s bid for AU Commission Chairperson and confirmed his attendance at the January 7 inauguration ceremony.
