Kumasi Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee Chairman Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah has called on the team to leave the past behind and focus on what’s ahead.
He said this according to the club in the wake of the resignation Abdul Karim Zito as head coach with assistant coach Prince Owusu subsequently named as interim head coach.
Zito’s resignation came on the back of poor results by the club in multiple competitions with Kotoko winning just a game in their last five outings in the Ghana Premier League.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, the Porcupine Warriors got eliminated by Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club on a 6-1 aggregate loss and lost 4-2 in a penalty shootout to Aduana Stars to crash out of the MTN FA Cup at the round of 16 stage.
The coaching changes have taken effect ahead of Kotoko’s big clash on Sunday, February 15 at the Baba Yara Stadium against Accra Hearts of Oak.

According to the club, Nana Apinkra stated, “We can’t afford further excuses. It’s redemption time, and let’s leave the past behind and focus on what is ahead. We must redeem ourselves on Sunday.”

Kotoko rank fifth in the league with 35 points while Hearts rank fourth with 36 points.
