Leave me out – Ayariga denies Kennedy Agyapong’s claim on Martin Amidu.
The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has denied claims by Assin Central lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong, that he has in his possession details of the former Special Prosecutor’s (SP) medical records.
The controversial New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, Mr. Agyapong, took on Martin Amidu on his Net 2 TV station after the latter resigned from his position on Monday, November 16, 2020.
He claimed Ghana’s immediate past Special Prosecutor had some mental health issues which he had visited Germany for care.
Kennedy Agyapong mentioned his colleague MP, Mahama Ayariga as his source of information.
But Mr. Ayariga has refuted those claims and attributions made to him.
“Let me just put on record that I don’t have any medical records of him [Amidu] being in Germany for treatment,” he told an Accra-based radio station.

Mr. Agyapong had also claimed that it was former President John Mahama who asked the Bawku Central MP not to publish the said document.
Ayariga said when he was being investigated by Martin Amidu, “a lot of people were sympathetic and met me in the Chamber and often had conversations with me about the case. I don’t recall having a discussion with Hon. Kennedy Agyapong in which I made revelations about medical conditions and treatment in Germany. I will plead that I should be left out of the conversation”.
Earlier, Mr. Amidu had rejected the claims made by the vociferous MP insisting he had never been to Germany.
He dared Mr. Agyapong to produce evidence of his allegations.
“I have never been to Germany on any occasion for a medical check-up. I don’t know any German hospital or clinic and therefore, these allegations are false. If he has documents on me having gone for medical treatment in Germany, he should produce them,” he told Citi FM.
Martin Amidu was, however, confident that Ayariga would not spread such “false” information about him.
“Mahama Ayariga will never make such false allegations against me as his father.”
“He would have been ostracized by the chiefs and people of the Kusawgu Traditional Area for such blatant lie. I challenge him to get Mahama Ayariga on the phone that he had documents proving that I have been to Germany for any type of treatment or whatsoever.”
