Leaked IGP Tape: That Is My Voice But The Audio Is Doctored – COP George Alex Mensah
One of the police officers implicated in the alleged ‘IGP leaked tape’, COP George Alex Mensah, has denied the authenticity of the content of the audio.
According to him, the tape has been doctored.
COP Mensah appeared before a parliamentary committee together with two other officers after being cited in the leaked tape recorded by Daniel Bugri Naabu, a former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Answering questions from committee members, COP Mensah admitted that one of the voices in the audio was his but insisted the recording was not the true representation of what he said at the time.
“The audio that I listened to is the edited version of the conversation we had. There are things we discussed that are not in the tape,” he said.
He admitted to the Committee Chairman Samuel Atta Akyea that he had met Mr Bugri Naabu on four occasions, and they had conversations he described as personal but denied any plans to oust the IGP.
“I don’t remember having any plan to remove the IGP because I don’t remove the IGP,” he said.
However, he said he could not recollect the exact things they said on the day the tape was recorded when the chairman further probed.
According to him, the conversation happened between himself and the three high-ranking police officers.
