COP George Alex Mensah, one of the security chiefs implicated in the alleged ‘IGP leaked tape’ has insisted that the former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, lied to the ad-hoc parliamentary committee.
Mr Naabu confirmed the authenticity of the content of the leaked audio tape when he appeared before the committee on Monday, August 28.
According to him, the conversation, which sparked controversy, indeed transpired between himself and three other high-ranking police officers.
However, appearing before the committee on Thursday, August 31, COP Mensah said, “Bugri Naabu came here to lie.”
He also strongly refuted the authenticity of the tape and claimed that the audio had been doctored and did not accurately reflect the content of the original conversation he had with the former NPP Northern Regional Chairman.
COP George Alex Mensah, Superintendent Asare, and Superintendent Emmanuel Gyebi appeared before parliament after being cited in the leaked tape recorded by Daniel Bugri Naabu, a former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
