Lasmid Terminates Contract With Highly Spiritual Music – Kaywa Confirms
Lasmid Nathaniel Owusu, popularly known as Lasmid, has parted ways with his record label Highly Spiritual.
The news of his decision to move on with his music career was announced by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the label David Kojo Kyei (Kaywa) on June 4, 2023.
According to Kaywa, the ‘Friday Night’ hitmaker ditched the record label due to internal misunderstandings.
“The conversation with Lasmid has been a back and forth, but it was way before VGMA. He started trumpeting, ‘I want to go, I want to go’ long ago. There is a back story, but I wouldn’t wanna make it public,” he said in an interview on Adom TV.
Kawya, however, assured fans that at the right time, the entire truth would be disclosed to the public to know why Lasmid left Highly Spiritual.
Lasmid won the Best Hiplife Song and New Artiste of the Year at the 2023 VGMAs held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Accra International Conference Center in Accra.
After four years, Lasmid is the second artiste to part ways with the label in a few weeks.
His decision came shortly after Mr Drew left to explore new opportunities.
The record label started in 2017 with musicians such as Kurl Songs, Yaw Berk, Krymi and King Maaga.
All of them are no more with Highly Spiritual.
Other songs by Lasmid under the Highly Spiritual record label are ‘Odo Brassband’, ‘Atele’, ‘Father’, ‘Sika’, ‘Butta and Bread’, and ‘Medula’.
