Lands Minister condemns attack on NAIMOS officers at Hwediem
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has vehemently denounced an assault on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) during an operation at Bronikrom, located near Hwediem in the Ahafo Region.
As reported by the Ministry, the incident took place on Saturday, 1st November 2025, while NAIMOS officers were engaged in an anti-galamsey operation.
“I have been fully briefed on the unfortunate attack, and I strongly condemn the incident. We will ensure swift and rigorous investigations to identify and prosecute all those involved,” the Minister stated.
Mr. Buah revealed that he had already conferred with the Speaker of Parliament and the Minister for the Interior to deliberate on coordinated actions to tackle the situation.
“This government remains committed to bringing to book all perpetrators who aid, support, or front the destruction of our environment,” he underscored.
The Ministry reiterated its resolve to persist in the battle against illegal mining, notwithstanding the recent assault on its task force.
