Kylian Mbappe ‘agrees five-year Real Madrid contract’

Kylian Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid upon the expiration of his Paris Saint-Germain contract, according to reports.

The 25-year-old told PSG’s bosses last week that he intends to leave the club in search of new pastures, deciding against taking up the one-year option in his contract – ensuring that his current deal ends this summer.

Speculation has been rife regarding Mbappe’s landing spot as a free agent, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal among the clubs linked from the Premier League.

The favourites for Mbappe’s signature have long been La Liga giants Real Madrid, and according to reports from BBC Sport and Marca, the France star has now agreed a contract with the club.

Mbappe is set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, earning €15m per year and receiving a whopping €150m signing-on bonus to be paid over five years too.

Although set to lose their greatest-ever player, Mbappe’s departure from PSG will not leave the Ligue 1 champions completely out of pocket at least. The forward has agreed to return roughly €80m having decided to allow his contract at the club to expire. PSG will save €200m by not having Mbappe on the books next season.

90min understands that Paris Saint-Germain have already drawn up a list of potential replacements for Mbappe too.

The club have an interest in Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, SSC Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko – the latter of which would be the least expensive option due to the young striker having a €50m release clause in his contract which is set to activate this summer.
