Kwesi Nyantakyi slapped with three charges, granted ₵1m bail
Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been charged with three offences.
He was charged with conspiracy to commit fraud, fraud, and corruption by a public officer.
A former member of the Association’s Executive Committee, Abdulai Alhassan, was also slapped with two charges namely; conspiracy to commit fraud and fraud.
Principal State Attorney, Victoria Asiedua, told an Accra High Court Wednesday that the two individuals executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of a non-existent company claiming to be attracting sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League.
The two were also alleged to have demanded $12 million from the supposed investors promising to land them major contracts in Ghana.
According to the prosecution, Mr Nyantakyi said the money would be distributed as follows: $5 million for the President; $3 million for the Vice President; $2 million for the Roads and Highway’s Minister; and $1 million dollars for his deputy while the rest was reserved for the Mr Nyantakyi and Mr Alhassan.

Kwesi Nyantakyi was implicated in a football scandal after an investigative documentary by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The former football administrator was captured in the video using President Akufo-Addo’s name to peddle influence.
The government came under pressure to prosecute Mr. Nyantakyi following the documentary titled ‘Number 12’.
The banned FIFA official was granted a 1 million cedi bail with three sureties, one to be justified. Same conditions apply to Mr Alhassan.
They are also required to report every Friday at the police CID. The case has been adjourned to March 25 for case management conference.
