Former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has declared his intention to contest in the upcoming Ejisu by-election.
Mr. Nyantakyi made this known during an interview at the launch of the New Patriotic Party’s(NPP) Ashanti Regional Campaign team in Kumasi over the weekend.
Expressing confidence in his capabilities, the former GFA president used the opportunity to extend condolences to the constituents for the loss of John Kumah.
He stated that while the timetable for the by-election has not been released, he intends to contest once it is announced.
Mr Nyantakyi emphasized his suitability for the by-election, citing his deep roots in the Ejisu constituency.
“The Ejisu by-election will definitely come on, but the timetable has not been published yet so we don’t know those who want to contest. Since I come from there, I have the right to contest in the election. At the right time, we’ll see what will happen.
“But at the moment, we are mourning the demise of a very dear son of the constituency. The Member of Parliament’s death is a big loss to the constituency so let’s wait and see what happens after the one week,” Mr Nyantakyi stated.
