Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will lead Sudan in a challenging Group E at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Sudan has been drawn alongside Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso.
Appiah, who secured Sudan’s qualification at the expense of Ghana, aims to defy the odds and reach the knockout stages.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Super Eagles, on a quest for their fourth AFCON title, are placed in Group C with Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania. After falling short in the 2023 final against Côte d’Ivoire, they will be looking to make amends.
Côte d’Ivoire, the reigning champions, head Group B, which also includes Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique.
Morocco, hosting the tournament for the first time since 1988, are regarded as strong contenders following their impressive run to the 2022 FIFA World Cup semifinals. The Atlas Lions will face Mali, Zambia, and Comoros in Group A.
In Group D, Botswana, making only their second AFCON appearance since 2012, will encounter a tough challenge against the 2021 champions Senegal, along with DR Congo and Angola.
The 2025 AFCON will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, offering an exciting stage for Africa’s best teams to vie for continental supremacy.
