Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is demanding the resignation of the current Black stars Coach, James Kwesi Appiah.

His statement comes on the back of the team’s poor showing at the just ended Africa Cup of Nations Tournament (AFCON) held in Egypt.

Nyaho-Tamakloe believes Coach Kwesi Appiah lacks the needed leadership skills, i.e. confidence and zeal to manage a team such as the Black Stars

Speaking to The Ghana Report, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe cited how the coach’s decision to strip Asamoah Gyan of the captaincy of the Senior national team days before the tournament affected morale in camp and eventually led to a rather poor performance in the matches played subsequently.

The move, he reiterated was a major mistake on the part of the Coach.

“You do not change the captain of the team just weeks to a game and expect to get remarkable results at the end of the tournament,” he said.

Dr Nyaho Tamakloe argues that Kwesi Appiah should have maintained his stance when he decided to ‘drop’ Asamoah Gyan from his team.

“He lacks self confidence which he clearly demonstrated when he failed to maintain his stance on having the former Captain back on the team,” he said.

He maintained the Black Stars coach needs to be firm in his conviction and resolute in his decisions in order to maintain a stable team at this critical time.

He recalls how he resigned from the FA after then Sports Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo, tried to talk him out of his decision to change the FA.

“Be bold and resign on principle,” he reiterated.
