Kwame Opoku back to Asante Kotoko on two-and-a-half-year deal

Asante Kotoko have confirmed the return of former striker Kwame Opoku, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club, subject to medical and international transfer clearance.

The 27-year-old striker rejoins the Porcupine Warriors following a memorable stint in the 2020/21 season, where he scored six goals and provided three assists in just 16 appearances.

His standout performances earned him a move to USM Alger in Algeria and later to Moroccan club Olympique Khouribga.

Opoku will wear the number 31 jersey as he looks to strengthen Kotoko’s attack.

His return is seen as a key addition to the squad, offering much-needed depth as the team aims to compete for top honours this season and beyond.

Kotoko have struggled with their attacking form this season, scoring just 10 goals in 12 league games.

Their top scorer, Albert Amoah, has netted six goals, and his absence due to injury has affected the team’s performances.

Opoku had been training with the team for several weeks but had to wait for the opening of the second transfer window and the confirmation of his registration as a new player before officially rejoining.
