Former Finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffour has officially filed his nomination form to contest in the National Democratic Congress’ flagbearer ship race.
So far, all four flagbearer hopefuls, former President John Mahama, former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu, and businessman Ernest Kwaku Krobeah have filed their nomination forms.
Mobbed by supporters, Dr. Duffour went to the party headquarters in Accra to hand over the documents.
While filing the forms, Dr. Duffour said he is committed to serving the party.
“I commit myself to serve the NDC and Ghana in making sure that we restore hope and national pride in Ghanaians and putting our economy back, not only on recovery but also prosperity. It is doable because we have done that before. NDC will do it again. There are tears in the eyes of Ghanaians and pain in the heart of Ghanaians because of how our economy has been mismanaged,” he said.
He added that “The grassroots, the foundation of our party should be resourced, should be made stronger than it is now so that they can fight the elephant to go into the bush.”
Receiving the nomination forms, General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Kwetey said “Let us remember that this party belongs to us and we have a common enemy.”
“Let us be devoid of insults and let us be ready to support whoever the party chooses on May 13,” he added.
The NDC officially will close nominations for both Presidential and parliamentary contests today.
The party says the exercise has been peaceful.
Chairman of the NDC’s Elections Committee, Kakra Essamuah said the vetting for the flagbearer aspirants will take place from March 28 to 29.
Subsequently, the elections to find a flagbearer will come off on May 13, 2023.
