Kwabena Boateng, the second vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Ejisu Constituency, has been elected as the parliamentary candidate for the upcoming by-election.
He polled 394 out of the 1033 valid votes cast against his closest competitor, Helena Mensah, who garnered 302 votes, while Yaa Akyemaa Aboagye followed with 229 votes.
Former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, who had been hospitalized hours before the election, received 35 votes.
Other candidates, like Dr Evans Duah, polled 63 votes, while the wife of the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, Portia Acheampong Abronye, got six votes.
Klinsman Karikari Mensah and Aaron Prince Duah trailed with two votes each, while Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey received no votes.
Speaking after the declaration, Mr Boateng expressed gratitude to the delegates for electing him as the NPP parliamentary candidate.

He also dedicated the win to the late MP John Kumah and promised to be a good representative for the people of Ejisu if voted as MP.
The party held the parliamentary primary to choose a candidate after the demise of John Ampontuah Kumah, the former Member of Parliament for Ejisu.
There were intense campaign activities within the week as aspirants engaged delegates to seek their votes.
However, the party cautioned both aspirants and delegates to strictly adhere to the election guidelines and reiterated its call for them not to camp delegates.
The by-election is slated for April 30, 2024.
