Kumasi “SaveGhanaFootball” Demo called off

The organizers of the “SaveGhanaFootball” protest have called off the Kumasi demonstration.

The cancellation was announced through an official statement ahead of the scheduled date of the protest which was set to take place on Friday, February 23 in Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.

The statement revealed that the decision was made after a positive round of talks between the organizers and Ghana’s parliament, as well as other relevant entities responsible for reviving the passion of football in the country.

Leadership has taken the decision to put the Kumasi demonstration and all the subsequent ones on hold to meet the appropriate bodies to discuss the way forward before deciding on the next move, according to the statement.

The Kumasi demonstration was intended to call for changes to be made to improve football in Ghana following poor results by the national football teams, particularly the men’s team, the Black Stars.

The previous SaveGhanaFootball protest, which took place on February 14 in Accra, attracted thousands of football enthusiasts.

During the event, a petition containing 15 items that the organizers wanted to be changed was presented to Ghana’s parliamentarians, who represented the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.
