Kufuor: Ghana must embrace knowledge-driven leadership

He stressed that the nation requires governance that builds on collective effort and prioritises sustainable, long-term development.

He made the remarks during a gathering of scholars and public intellectuals reflecting on Ghana’s independence as an unfinished project, exploring how the country has historically navigated political, economic, and social challenges while charting a path for the future.

“There is a particular kind of leadership Ghana must usher in, building on our collective endeavours—one that understands the difference between sounds and signals. One that resists the lure of slogans and insists instead on evidence, on historical precedent, and on the patient work of institution building,” Kufuor said.

 

He further emphasised that governance must be guided by knowledge and experience, warning that leadership without such grounding could imperil national development.

The event called on citizens and policymakers to rethink Ghana’s development trajectory and strengthen institutions capable of steering the nation through future uncertainties.
