KSM revived English comedy in Ghana – Lekzy DeComic

Ghanaian comedian, Lekzy DeComic, has acknowledged the efforts of his predecessors who began comedy in Ghana years back.

Speaking on Biribi Gyegye Wo on Onua TV, the stand-up comedian said he was inspired by KSM to begin a career in comedy while showing appreciation to the many comedians who have held the forte of comedy in Ghana.

He mentioned the likes of Fritz Baffour, Tommy Annan Forson and others who have contributed their quota to the comedy scene in Ghana.

According to him, English comedy in Ghana was revived by comedian and TV personality, KSM.

“I want to give credit to some people who started before he [KSM] came to the scene and made contemporary comedy more attractive.“The genesis of comedy begun with them…I will say that for the revival of English-speaking comedy and stage performance, I will give credit to KSM. He is an inspiration. When I wanted to do comedy, he is a reference point,” he said.
Lekzy Decomic further explained the differences between a stand-up comedian and a comic actor.

In his view “every stand-up comedian can be a comic actor, not all comic actors can be a stand-up comedian.”

He stated that a lot more education needs to be done to explain the differences so that audiences are not misinformed.
