Mr Bernard Aboakogya Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East in the Oti Region, has passed away.
Mr. Mensah died on Friday, April 5, 2024.
It is reported that the MCE fell unconscious while speaking at a matriculation programme at Dambai College of Education, after which he was rushed to the Worawora Government Hospital.
Unfortunately, he passed out en route to the hospital.
Mr. Mensah was appointed as the MCE for Krachi East by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2023 following the passing of Francis Kofi Okesu, who was found dead in a hotel room in Kumasi in September 2022.
It will be recalled that in 2023, the majority of assembly members welcomed his appointment and expressed their willingness to work together in the interest of the Krachi East Municipality.
At that time, Mr Joshua Gmayenaam Makubu, the Oti Regional Minister, indicated that the 100 per cent confirmation by the MCE to serve his members was a clear indication of support for the task ahead.
Before his passing, Mr. Mensah dedicated his time and available resources towards the development of Krachi East Municipality.
