Kotoko’s Danlad receives Black Stars invite for Japan tournament
Asante Kotoko shot-stopper Danlad Ibrahim has been handed a late call-up by Ghana coach Otto Addo for the Kirin Cup tournament in Japan.
The former Ghana U20 goalkeeper replaces Orlando Pirates goalie Richard Ofori, who picked up an injury during training.
Ofori travelled with the team to Angola for the second game of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers but will be involved in the game.
According to the Ghana Football Association, the medical team will carry out further test to check the extent of the goalkeeper’s injury.
But Danlad Ibrahim will join the Black Stars team next week before they travel to Japan for the Kirin Cup tournament.
The Black Stars will play Chile, Tunisia and hosts Japan as part of their preparations ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
Ghana opened their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a thumping victory against Madagascar last Wednesday.
Danlad Ibrahim has been key as Asante Kotoko won the Ghana Premier League for the first time in seven years.
