Kotoko set to submit proposal to allow the registration of more foreign players
Ghana Premier League giant, Asante Kotoko will be making a big proposal at the next Congress of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The proposal will seek to get the backing of Congress to amend Article 26(5) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations which stipulates the number of foreigners a club can register and field on match day.
Per the regulation, a club may register a maximum of five non-Ghanaian nationals in their squad but not more than three can make a matchday squad.
According to Angel Sports’ Saddick Adams, Asante Kotoko wants the regulation to be amended.
As a result, the club intends to trigger the amendment procedure to allow for clubs to register and field more foreign players at the GFA Congress next month.
This month, Asante Kotoko has signed three foreign players already.
One of the new signings, Samba O’Neil from Congo was adjudged Man of the Match on Wednesday night when his top performance helped the Porcupine Warriors to beat Hearts of Oak 2-1 in the inaugural Democracy Cup.
Checks have revealed that Asante Kotoko plans to recruit additional foreign players to augment the squad of the team before the start of the 2024/25 football season.
