Korle Bu CEO bows out
The tenure of office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Daniel Asare, has ended.
Dr Ali Samba, the Director of Medical Affairs, is to act as Chief Executive Officer until a substantive appointment is made.
The Board Chairman, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, announced the decision in a statement.
The board’s decision takes effect from September 3, this year.
“All are entreated to offer him the necessary support to enable him drive the hospital’s agenda of providing excellent health care.
“The board would like to extend its warmest regards and appreciation to the outgoing CEO and wish him very well in his future endeavours,” the statement said.
Dr Daniel Asare took over as the CEO of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in June 2019.
Before his appointment, he was the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) CEO.
He has 27 years of experience in the health service with 17 of these years in Hospital Management.
He was the founding head of the new Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital, Sunyani.
Dr Asare was later transferred to the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua, where he ably transformed the Hospital.
When the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital was being transitioned from a regional to a teaching hospital, Dr. Asare was called upon to facilitate the process as the Chief Executive.
Dr Asare is a trained Otorhinolaryngologist at the West African College of Surgeons.
He has also studied Health Systems at Leeds University in the United Kingdom.
In June, this year, media reports suggested that the Korle Bu CEO, tested positive for coronavirus.
According to the report, he had been out of the office for 10 days as a result of contracting the disease.
