The death toll has risen to three following the mining shop explosion at Odumase, near Konongo, in the Ashanti Region.
The two additional victims died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Medical officials at Konongo say two other victims in critical condition are being considered for referral to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
The Wednesday night explosion, which occurred in a shop that sells explosives, such as dynamites, used by local miners in the area, was reportedly triggered by a fire outbreak.
According to reports, some victims reportedly had parts of their bodies dismembered.
Some firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) who were deployed to contain the fire also suffered injuries.
The Asante Akyem Central Municipal Fire Commander, Divisional Officer Grade 2, Joe Bryden, confirming the incident, said a resident who tried to warn firefighters to move away from danger, unfortunately died in the process.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has donated an amount to support the explosion victims.
During a visit to the site, Dr. Amoakohene described the situation as worrying.
He assured victims of the government’s support and directed the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to provide immediate relief.
