A parliamentary candidate contesting the Ketu North seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, has officially withdrawn from the race.

In a letter addressed to the party’s election committee, Dr. Dzamesi cited personal reasons as the basis for his decision not to contest.

Dr Dzamesi, who is also a former Chieftaincy minister expressed optimism that the NPP would benefit from the infusion of new faces and fresh perspectives.

He acknowledged the trust and support he received from various levels of the party and called for unity in supporting the candidate who could best represent the constituency’s interests.

Dr. Dzamesi’s withdrawal has opened the field for other candidates like Gabriel Kwasi Awudi, the former Constituency Chairman of the party to pick forms to contest in the parliamentary race.

Meanwhile, the governing NPP has set Sunday, September 10, 2023, for its parliamentary primaries for 17 constituencies.

The constituencies include Suaman, Anlo, North Dayi, Nadowli/Kaleo, Sagnarigu, Kumbungu, Builsa North, Pusiga, Ada and Bolgatanga East.

The rest are Tema East, La Dadekotopon, Buem, Biakoye, Amenfi West, New Edubiase, and Upper Manya Krobo.

Below is a letter to that effect.
