KMA orders traders, others to vacate Santasi–Asokwa stretch by Jan 20

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a second evacuation notice to individuals residing along the Santasi Roundabout to Asokwa Interchange corridor, urging them to vacate the area by January 20, 2026, to facilitate the smooth completion of ongoing road construction works.

In a statement dated January 12, 2026, the Assembly indicated that the notice pertains to car dealers, mechanics, taxi operators, traders, squatters, owners of temporary structures, and billboards who continue to operate along the stretch.

The KMA reminded that a previous directive issued on September 24, 2025, mandated all affected occupants to vacate the area by November 1, 2025. However, the Assembly observed that despite multiple reminders, some individuals have not complied.

According to the statement, the construction of the dual-carriage road connecting Santasi to the Asokwa Interchange has already commenced, and full cooperation from the public is essential to ensure the project is completed on time.

The Assembly revealed that engineers from the Ghana Water Company Limited and the Electricity Company of Ghana are presently relocating utility installations along the corridor to accommodate the project.

KMA thus appealed to residents and traders to collaborate with the engineers and project officials to prevent delays.
