A Kia truck carrying turpentine was completely destroyed by fire following an accident near Kyekyewere on the Suhum-Nsawam highway in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck, en route from Accra to Suhum, tried to overtake a fuel tanker, lost control, and tipped over on its side in the roadway.
Local residents promptly rescued the driver and his mate and rushed them to the hospital.
However, as they worked to offload the cargo, the truck unexpectedly ignited and was quickly consumed by flames.
One eyewitness shared, “This morning while heading to work, I saw people gathered around the truck. Its tire had burst, and we noticed smoke coming out. Before we could get close, the truck burst into flames. Fortunately, the driver and his mate were taken to the hospital”.
