Flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has expressed confidence in his ability to unite the party if he emerges victorious in the presidential primary, despite the intense exchanges and tensions that have characterized the campaign.

Speaking to the media in Assin Central shortly before casting his vote, Mr Agyapong acknowledged that internal party contests are often highly competitive and can sometimes lead to disagreements.

He cautioned, however, that such moments should not be allowed to weaken party unity.

According to him, strong political competition may occasionally result in harsh language, but this should be seen as part of the democratic process rather than a cause for lasting division within the party.

“I don’t see it as a problem. At the end of the day, we will all come together as one party to work. In any contest, things can get tough and certain words may be used that are not pleasant, but that is part of the process. It does not mean anyone should walk away from the party. If I am declared the winner, I believe I will be able to bring everyone together,” he said.

Mr Agyapong stressed that unity will be crucial to the NPP’s prospects after the primaries, noting that all aspirants must work collectively to strengthen the party and prepare it for future electoral battles.
