Kasoa ritual: Murdered 10-year-old boy laid to rest
The remains of the 10-year-old boy, brutally murdered by two teenagers at Kosoa, has been laid to rest.
The Islamic funeral rites for Ishmael Mensah Abdallah took place at the Amanfro cemetery after an initial delay by the police to release the body to his relatives.
Present to witness the solemn event were his classmates, teachers, relatives, and MP for Bortianor Ngleshie-Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh.
Theghanareport.com had earlier reported that the suspects who allegedly killed the 10-year-old boy in the Central Region initially planned to kidnap him for a ransom of GH¢5,000.
Appearing before the Ofaakor District Magistrate Court on Tuesday, the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Ernest Agbo, said the accused – Felix Nyarko, aka Yaw Anane, 16, a mason labourer, who is the first accused, and Nicholas Kini Kwame, 18, a student and second accused, had planned to take the money and add Ishmael Mensah Abdallah, the deceased, to it to present to a spiritualist for rituals.
On the arrival of Ishmael at an uncompleted facility building after luring him with a game, they realised that kidnapping would be difficult and killed him instead, the prosecutor told the court.
The teenagers acted allegedly on instructions of a fetish priestess to bring human parts and GH5000 for money rituals that would make them rich.
The native doctor has been arrested in Eastern Region and assisting with investigations.
The police said the suspects contacted the fetish priestess after watching such activities on television.
Meanwhile, some critics have called for a speedy passage of the new broadcasting bill to regulate content displayed on television and other platforms.
The bill is also expected to curtail the activities of money doublers on television and fake news.
