K. K. Kabobo’s one-week observation slated for Saturday, April 20
The family of the late legendary highlife musician, Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo popularly known as K. K. Kabobo has announced that his one-week observation will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Police Depot Social Centre at Tesano, Accra.
The veteran musician died on Thursday, March 14, 2024, after battling liver disease.
The news of his demise was disclosed by highlife musician Kaakyire Kwame Appiah.
Before his passing, one user in a Facebook post, revealed that the renowned musician had been unwell and solicited funds to support him.
This compelled former President John Mahama, 2nd Lady Samira Bawumia, musician Wendy Shay, the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), and other close friends to donate funds to support his medical treatment.
K.K. Kabobo established his first band, Explosive Jets, in 1978.
In 1981, he dropped his first album, which had the smash hit ‘Nyatse Nyatse Girl’.
In 1992, his song ‘Onyame Ehuwo’ was declared the song of the year and had the highest number of records sold in Ghana that same year, which made him more famous.
K.K. Kabobo was ordained as a pastor by Covenant Mission Bible College in 2012.
The singer left behind 16 children.
