Former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has categorically dismissed rumours that he’s being considered as a running mate to the NDC Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.
A statement released by the former chief of staff firmly addresses the rumours that have been swirling in various interest groups and media outlets of him as a potential candidate.
While acknowledging the natural ambition of individuals to advance in their careers, he said he has no desire to pursue the role of a running mate for the 2024 elections.
“I wish to disassociate myself from the sentiments expressed in the media by these groups and individuals,” the statement said.
He urged these interest groups and individuals to refrain from pressuring Mr Mahama into making a hasty decision regarding his running mate selection.
Drawing from his years of working with the former president, Mr Debrah commended Mr Mahama’s judicious decision-making process, asserting that Mr Mahama is not influenced by external pressures or lobbying.
“Mr Mahama is not the type of individual who can be swayed or influenced by lobbying for a particular position. He is currently engaged in crucial consultations with the FEC and CoE to address important matters such as Vice Chairpersons, party directorates, fundraising, and facilitating the operations of key directorates in preparation for the upcoming elections,” he added.
Mr Debrah served as chief of staff to former President Mahama from 2015 to 2017.
