Judiciary will be fair and just under Mahama – Ayine

Dominic Ayine, a former Deputy Attorney-General and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga East has expressed unwavering confidence in the ability of John Dramani Mahama’s leadership to strengthen Ghana’s judiciary and uphold justice in the country.

Mr Ayine, in a recent interview, praised Mahama’s commitment to ensuring an independent judiciary and his dedication to appointing a minister specifically tasked with overseeing the justice sector.

Reflecting on Mahama’s previous tenure, Mr. Ayine highlighted the former president’s efforts to safeguard judicial independence, an essential element in fair justice delivery.

“During his presidency, President Mahama successfully ensured that the judiciary remained independent, which is fundamental for justice administration,” Ayine said.

Further expressing his optimism, Mr Ayine stressed that Mr Mahama would continue prioritising the judiciary’s autonomy, ensuring the sector is well-equipped and resourced to perform its constitutional duties.

Mr. Ayine also emphasised Mr. Mahama’s commitment to preventing partisan influence within the judiciary, stating, “President Mahama will ensure the courts remain free from partisan interference and that justice is delivered based on fairness, not political affiliation. A Mahama-led Ministry of Justice will prioritise merit and impartiality in all judicial proceedings.”
