Joyce Blessing didn’t promote ‘Victory’ enough – Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian highlife singer, songwriter and producer, Kuami Eugene, has said in a recent interview with Hitz FM that Joyce Blessing’s promotion for her ‘Victory’ song was subpar.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, he said that the song would have gotten more mileage if she put extra work.

“I think Joyce Blessing didn’t do as much as Empress Gifty is doing [with Watch Me]. I am just being real. I love Auntie Joyce so much but I don’t think she did justice to the song like Empress is doing. Empress has taken it personal. And from a writer’s perspective, there is a lot of respect attached to it.

She is singing it everywhere, she is posting everybody. Joyce Blessing, at the beginning of the whole song, after she put it out there and was going viral, did really do. But after December, that’s it for her. She had a hit song so that’s it for her,” he said.

He said Empress, on the hand, has been doing so much to make sure she maximises the potential of the song.

“It’s been almost a month and it doesn’t look like Empress Gifty is stopping anytime soon. And it’s looking very good. She’s been everywhere; she’s been to Kumasi, Eastern Region, I think it is something we should really learn.

The Victory song, released in 2023 was written, composed and produced by Kuami Eugene for gospel musician Joyce Blessing.

Joyce Blessing, in an interview even revealed that Kuami Eugene was the creative director of the creative director of the music video of ‘Victory’.

Kuami Eugene, apart from his own songs, has gained recent acclaim as a fantastic songwriter. Apart from Victory, he has also written songs for MzVee, Empress Gifty, Kwame Yogot, among others.
