Jon Germain, KOD part ways with EIB Network

The exodus that hit the EIB Network is yet to end as two more of the media company’s finest radio presenters muted their mic and took an exit.

Radio presenters, Jon Germain and Kofi Okyere Darko, popularly known as KOD, have resigned from the EIB Network.

The two have been with the media conglomerate for five years. They both took to their social media pages to announce their resignation from Starr FM, a subsidiary of the EIB Network.

In a Facebook post announcing his exit from the media organization, Jon Germain said, “I am happy to announce that after 5 years and 9 months of being with STARR FM & the EIB family, we have decided to mutually part ways. I’d like to thank everyone who worked with me from the Drop off to The Zone..And everyone who tuned in to my shows. All the best”.

Until his departure, Mr. Germain hosted ‘Drop Off’, a late evening show. He later moved to host the station’s mid-morning show, ‘The Zone’. He, however, did not give a clue about  his next move

Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) also took to his Facebook page on Saturday, May 2, 2020 to announce his resignation. He had also served the company in different capacities.

KOD was the former host of Starr FM’s mid-morning show, The zone, until Jon Germain took over. Mr. Okyere Darko prior to his resignation hosted the drive show, ‘Starr Drive’.

“After 5 straight years at EIB, we mutually parted company last Thursday. It [has] been 5 awesome years with an amazing family. From Live FM, my love child as Head of events & host of 360 Live (I truly enjoyed my days at Live with the youngsters) & later moving to Starr to host the Zone & Starr Dive, it [has] been a fabulous learning curve.

He thanked CEO of the company for the opportunity to serve in the organization. KOD however hinted he was taking a long break from the media after 24 years in the industry.

The reasons both celebrated radio personalities resign are not readily known, but sources within the company told theghanareport.com some people, including the two, have been asked to resign voluntarily or have the company will part ways with them.

According to theghanareport.com sources, management of the station is embarking on a restructuring agenda to focus mainly on news.

KOD and Jon Germain join the tall list of media personalities such as Anita Erskine, Berla Mundi, Giovanni Caleb Elolo, to resign from the EIB Network.

The  CEO of the company in 2019 went public about the company’s financial crisis.Ever since Unibank, the financial muscle behind the EIB network lost its license to operate, the media giant has been on a slide, losing some of its popular faces and voices to its competitors.
